Machine Sewing Camp
Ages 8 and up
June 29 - August 22
Full day camp 9AM-3PM
(please don’t sign up your 7 year old up! Sign them up for hand sewing camp, here)
--------------------------
This year’s theme is Literature! We will be exploring sewing and fiber arts by celebrating our favorite authors, illustrators, and book series.
Let’s celebrate our favorite books with sewing! We will brew up some witchy natural dyes with the kids from Harry Potter; create costumes to fight mythological creatures with the characters from Percy Jackson; create outfits and accessories straight from Diary of a Wimpy Kid; sew some of our favorite creatures from Roald Dahl’s books; sew up gorgeous quilts and projects inspired by Eric Carle and Faith Ringgold’s illustrations; and learn some historical sewing and fiber arts techniques found in the Little House series.
Each week we will learn a new word like oxidization, viscosity, and mordant as we explore various ways to dye and paint our fabric.
This summer is all about immersing our selves in our favorite stories! No worries if your child isn’t familiar with the author, book, or illustrator of the week, we will show them plenty of examples and they are free to create their own unique interpretations.
