July 30 Adult Camp: Indigo Shibori Dyeing!
7:00-10:00 PM
July 30th
Welcome to Adult Camp: where grownups have as much fun as our campers! In our Adult Camp evening workshops, we will explore all the fun fiber arts the kids get to try during Fiber Arts Camp. In this workshop, we will be dyeing a sarong, a bandana, and a crossbody bag using an indigo dye bath and shibori dyeing techniques. We like to call shibori “advanced tie-dye”. It’s the ancient art of indigo dyeing from Japan using string, wooden blocks and clamps, poles and pleats, and even embroidery to create designs that ‘resist’ the dye.
We will explore a few simple techniques, discuss how to use indigo dye, and get messy!
Please wear clothes that can get messy! We will provide gloves. Indigo gets everywhere and is permanent!
All materials provided. Feel free to bring other small items to dye (ex: one t-shirt, or a child’s dress). Dyeables must be 100% natural fibers like cotton or linen and pre-washed.
Please see info on location, refund policy and Covid policies here.
